What's New
I built Planning Llama because estimating together should be easy — no sign-up, no ads, nothing in the way. Open a room, share the link, and you're planning. I just want it to be something your team enjoys using.
If anything gets in your way, or you have an idea that would make it better, I'd love to hear it. Email me any time at hello@planningllama.com.
Below are the new features, improvements and fixes, newest first.
September 30, 2026
- New Opened the same room in two tabs by mistake? The one you are not using now says so, with a Join from this tab button, instead of both tabs quietly fighting over your seat. A tab in the background never takes it back on its own.
- Improved Switching to another tab and back no longer makes you leave and rejoin the room for everyone else, as long as your connection stayed up.
- Improved If your connection drops while the room is in a background tab, it reconnects straight away. A tab left unused for 15 minutes waits until you come back, so a sleeping laptop no longer keeps reconnecting.
- Improved New versions no longer reload the page in the middle of a round. When you open the app, it updates right away, unless you have already voted. While you are in a room, the footer offers it instead: Refresh (which you can dismiss), or Try New Version on phones. And when you come back after 15 minutes or more away, it updates on its own.
- Improved The Privacy Policy now explains what our server logs record and for how long.
- Fixed Closing one of two tabs with the same room no longer removed you from it.
- Fixed After reconnecting, the card shown as your pick always matches what the room sees.
- Fixed A room opened in a background tab no longer dropped its first connection, or skipped the name prompt, when you switched to it.
- Fixed The “page not found” screen looks right again.
September 26, 2026
- New This What's New page, so you can see what changed.
- Improved Opening a room link while the server is asleep now wakes it up and connects you automatically, instead of showing a “Connection lost” error.
- Improved The server starts waking up as soon as you open the home page, so creating a room after a quiet spell is quicker.
- Fixed The “What’s your name?” prompt can no longer be closed by accident with Esc or a click outside it, leaving you in a room without a name.
September 25, 2026
- Improved Rooms you use are kept for a whole year after your last estimate, so bookmarked rooms keep working. Empty rooms nobody voted in are cleaned up after a day.
- Improved Home, How It Works, Privacy and Terms pages show up better in search results.
- Fixed Room statistics (reveals and completed sessions) could occasionally miss a count when several things happened at once. They are now recorded reliably.
- Fixed A few buttons and panels that had lost their styling look right again.
September 22, 2026
- New Link ticket IDs to your issue tracker. Set a ticket link in Settings (for example https://yourteam.atlassian.net/browse/{ticketId}) and every ticket badge opens the ticket in a new tab, for everyone in the room. Works with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Linear and any other tracker.
- Improved Rooms stay fast with far more people in them — we load-tested a single server with 1,000 players.
- Fixed The “Add item” form no longer shows autocomplete suggestions while you type.
September 21, 2026
- Improved Errors are now reported to us automatically, so we can find and fix problems sooner.
June 20, 2026
- New New rooms get a random, friendly name. Rename it any time in Settings.
- Improved Reveal and Reset have a short cooldown, so a double-click no longer reveals and resets in one go.
June 19, 2026
- New Estimation queue: add the stories you want to estimate — title, optional ticket ID and description — and work through them one by one.
- New Sessions panel: every revealed round is saved with its average and whether the team agreed. Expand an entry to see individual votes, or delete it.
- New Room stats: total sessions, average score, most-picked card and how often the team was unanimous.
June 14, 2026
- New The home page answers common questions about planning poker and Planning Llama.
June 12, 2026
- Improved Moved to faster hosting, and votes and reactions reach everyone with less delay.
- Improved The app updates itself to the latest version the next time you open it.
June 10, 2026
- New A proper “page not found” screen for mistyped links.
- Improved How It Works, Privacy and Terms open as their own pages with shareable links, and the Back button takes you back to your room.
June 5, 2026
- New Poke a teammate: hover over someone’s card and tap the finger to nudge them with a sound and a shake. Pokes have a 5-second cooldown, shown on the button.
- New Mute Sound in the user menu. Sounds are also muted while the tab is in the background.
- New More emoji to choose from, including sports and activities.
June 1–4, 2026

- Improved Confetti when the whole team agrees.
- Improved Press Enter to save in Settings.
